The 1998 Data Protection Act became law in 2000, it
included disposal of paper and Computer held data. Section 55 of
the act says that a person must not knowingly or recklessly procure
the disclosure of information contained in personal data, which
could mean that personal information ,such as c.v`s credit applications
etc left out for normal refuse collection is regarded as reckless.

Environment Protection Act 1990 invokes a duty
of care for organisations to ensure that their waste is disposed
of by registered carriers.
